New camera makes you look slimmer
Rather than do all your editing on a personal computer, clever cameras like the 8-megapixel HP Photosmart R937 ($329.99) let you touch up your photos while they’re still on the camera.

With its huge 3.6-inch touchscreen display you can use your fingertip to remove redeye (and pet redeye), crop photos or even try the "slimming" feature to shave a few pounds off your body! Or why not remove unwanted blemishes before uploading your photo to Facebook?
What’s more, you can use the software keyboard to add text to photos, including captions, email addresses and searchable tags (keywords such as "beach," "Michael," or "vacation") to better find pics when loaded into your computer.

As if the world needed to be more obsessed with how they look. I think the point of pictures is to "capture" the moment so you can remember and show everyone you were there and such. But nowadays it's all about looking as good as you can.
Well this camera will get sales from this, but it's certainly not helping the problem.
people should just not be fat so they dont have to make this kind of technology
wow i think that this is so smart.
crap, i already have a nice camera.
technology is jus so wonderful these days..
It's about time camera have options that helps people who do not have a computer to be able to perform the functions and improve on picture ( Memory ) caption for the many years to keep !!
I agree with you Viktor. There may be times it's appropriate to do a little editing or cropping (some of the photos of my daughter's birth come to mind) but there's no magic in the moment to edit everything.
And how are we EVER going to be realistic about how we look if we keep fooling ourselves with 'slimming features' etc? Welcome to a new way to delude ourselves…
I believe the camera adds ten pounds to you anyway…so this camera would make you look like you really do. I think I will by one for myself and see if it really works. I don't think we are kidding ourselves if it's really how we look! Do You?
I agree with Viktor as well. Honestly folks, in today's world being obsessed with how you look should be the farthest thing from anyone’s mind. I agree with the feature to edit out red eye, I use a program that helps with that, but we are only fooling ourselves with this "slimming" feature.
Memories are created with the assistance of the camera, not with us editing and making us look like something that we obviously are not! To me that is not the real memory, what we look like at the time will always be forefront in my memory block.
i agree with clarke! maybe if you people would lose a little weight, i wouldn't have to pay a million dollars for a camera!…and this camera sucks, i used it…it's not structurally sound, that whopper of a 3 inch screen is bound to break.
I think that it is crazy. This world id going to hell in a hand basket, with all the technoligy today couldnt they put the money and ideas into something worth our money. We obsess over our weight and appearance, now they give us a camera so we can pick on ourselves more. Way to go HP.
I won't lie – at first I thought, oh, a slimming feature? Score! Then I realized uhhh… bunch of bull. Could our society be any more obsessed with absolute perfection? The media "tries" to tackle these problems, addressing eating disorders etc, but then they come out with this? Way to eat your own words! Oops, I forgot, we're not supposed to eat.
I am a large lady and the camera makes me look bigger what is wrong with taking off the extra a camera puts on us i agree the world is to body minded and it embarasses me those few extra the camera puts on me but if i appeared my same size i would love it
Lol, the media is just a cleverly thought out, money making trap. They sell a bunch of high fat junk and fast food, then turn around and advertise skinny models to make people feel guilty. Then, in turn they try and sell you diet products and so called 'slimming cameras. People, don't buy into this crap. It's just another $300 in some scam artists pocket.
To those saying it's great because it will make you look your normal weight, there are far cheaper solutions. But if you are willing to fork out the money I guess that's your choice.
Sorry if this is a double post.
get this, how about you buy a normal camera and save some money by consuming less food and walking to work. jeasus, instead of spening your time hiding the problem, spend time loosing the problem.
How about skipping McDonald's a few more times a week? Try eating non processed, non premade, and non packaged foods. They're so much better for you and you'll be saving the money that you'll be spending for a slimming feature within a couple weeks.
All you rude, genetically blessed, slim people who posted above should be extremeley ashamed of yourselves and your insulting remarks. Not everyone who is overweight is that way from eating too much junk food. I know people who are that way because of medication, certain surgical procedures, etc. So get educated before you insult and put down people. I think the camera is a great idea.
You know, a lot of the comments that are made are of personal opinions. Well in my opinion is that it is a really good idea and also a bad idea. But to make sales it is good. People who don't like it don't have to buy it or deal with it. There is a lot to be said when someone is knocking something down or knocking people down in general and can not spell properly, just shows their ignorance.
This is a good idea to make people feel good about themselves, and to shine in their own families.
I'll buy one if it makes me look Fatter!!!
And while they're at it… how about giving me some more hair and whiter teeth and a buffer body when I'm at the beach.
Let's see… a tan wouldn't be a bad idea and Miss Swan's eyes would really put the icing on the cake !!!
Gosh!!! Imagine all the money I'll save.
No more Botox, no need for hair transplants and no need for Super Fitness.
My wife needs a bigger set of boobs and my teenager needs a clearer complexion.
HP… are you listening???
My money is yours if you can do all this.
The skinny folks are probably just sick of being harassed by jealous people shooting off random accusations of anorexia. Neither side really needs to be rude about it, you know? Not everyone on earth fits into the skinny 'ideal' that the media pushes. On the other hand, not everyone is heavy set.
People should just be happy with who they are, and realise that the media is just a load of marketing schemes. Yeah, it hurts when every commercial on television seems to press that you should look a certain way. Then again, you have to keep in mind that only like 5% of the world looks like that. And of course they're going to press what for most is an impossible ideal. It makes people desperate, and therefore increases the chances that they'll buy into the latest 'solution' to their 'problem'.
This time, it's a camera that can make you look like what they want you to. Yay! If you buy this, you're only supporting the skinny ideal that the media pushes by purchasing their product.
I am really tired of the overweight people in the world blaming everyone, and everything else but themselves for being overweight.
I am fat because I take more Calories into my Body than I expend.
Stop blaming your Thyroid Gland, your Medication, or your Operations.
It has to go in your mouth and down your throat to end up in your Stomach.
HP is full of BS, and just catering to an over indulgent world.
If you are Fat, you are Fat; get over it or do something about it.
Have a great day.
Gary
Let people who want to buy this camera buy it. There's no need for demeaning comments from either side.
p.s. Dear 'Insulted',
I should mention that I have been trying to lose weight for quite some time. I wasn't even overweight, but the camera pictures looked bad. However, telling people to exercise isn't bad, as it's actually quite beneficial. I lost quite a few pounds without any extra cost due to an increase in my daily walking. The exercise makes me hungry and I do tend to eat more than I used to, but I have lost and keep losing weight.
On the other hand, one of my best friends is quite obese and has told me that she has a thyroid problem. however, she hardly makes any effort to move around. I have tried to encourage her to exercise several times with no success. She consumes an enormous amount of greasy fast-food. Her sister used to be quite large as well, but lost weight in her university years, due to all the walking she did.
While I agree that it is mean to put down someone else, a bit of exercise isn't a bad thing after all!
