Hda2_2According to the North American HD DVD Promotional Group, more than 750,000 HD DVD players are now in U.S. households, including Xbox 360 HD DVD player add-ons.

Part of its initial success is the attractive price point compared to Blu-ray Disc players – the other high-definition format in the ongoing war to replace the almighty DVD.

Not surprisingly, Wal-Mart and Best Buy locations sold out of many HD DVD players this past “Black Friday” weekend, says Home Media Magazine, because the retailers dropped the price of its Toshiba HD-A2 units to $99.
