This is because if you do a little online research you can find this turntable for as low as US$100 at Amazon.com.
And don’t forget one Canadian dollar is – at the time of writing this — worth US $1.08. By my math this turntable is now closer to $92 Canadian (plus tax and shipping, of course).

The source model is a step up from th (( model (better tonearm, phono output stage for stereo system and 1/8 mini pin in to dub over cassettes) it's 139USD on search, ther is also a step up again for 199USD that adds tone arm lifet capabilities and a dust cover see the url
in any case even the 199usd is cheaper than The source. Time for them to wake up to pricing I think
Thanks Eddie. I double-checked the product number to be sure, but will check again. But you're right — even with the higher-end model it seems way overpriced compared to other stores. And the Canadian dollar is now worth $1.10 to the US $1. Amazing.

It is not just The Source that have not lower the price because of the higher US dollars. I find even the Canadaian mail order online site that is US based has not adjusted their prices when the items are shipped to Canada from the States. The differenc is not a small amount on a couple hundred dollars item. I am buying from the States if they are 20% or more lower than the Canadian price.
Don't want it anyway because it't not a direct drive turntable. Now if you can find one that is please contact me and let me know where I can buy one.
All high-end turntables use belt-drive, not direct-drive. This machine was obviously designed with the high-end audiophile in mind; the design screams 'golden ears.' If you want direct-drive, buy a Panasonic D.J. turntable.
Where can I get download for ION usb turntable?
I bought one but the CD that came with it doesn't work.

Don I also have an ION turntable that has given me nothing but grief as far as downloading and transferring to mp3 format. The turntable works ok but whenever I uuse the Itunes to transfer to mp3 I run onto trouble-I wrote the company-they gave me another program to try but it did not provide a way to title the songs but simply named each song as Temp 1 or 2 or 3 etc.I’ve given up for now and would also like to know if anyone out there can suggest a program that works.
