Deal of the Day: TomTom One

While GPS navigation makers like Garmin and Magellan are bigger in North America, TomTom is the “Kleenex” of GPS units for much of Europe, including England. Best Buy has a special on the TomTom One – just $139.99 – which is a great price for this GPS unit (and don’t forget, there’s no monthly subscription costs).

While it’s missing some newer features like text-to-speech translation and multimedia playback, this 3.5-inch touch-screen GPS unit ships with maps for all of Canada and the U.S., turn-by-turn voice instructions (as ell as 3-D graphics) and millions of points of interest (POIs), such as gas stations, hotels, restaurants and bank machines.

It also features Bluetooth connectivity so you can do things such as talk through the GPS unit’s external speaker instead of wearing a headset (if your phone has Bluetooth) or you can tap on a POI, such as a restaurant, and it will call the establishment.

A wonderful deal if you can get it but it is not available for shipping and not available in any storess in Eastern Ontario so I think it is more promotion than real. My experiences with Best Buy have not been good as compared to Future Shop and London Drugs which are vastly better in my experience

Correction: TomTom One has bluetooth but only to use its "Plus" service which checks for traffic updates. Bluetooth cannot be used for handsfree cell phone.
You can see this on TomTom's webpage…
"Note: TomTom ONE does not feature handsfree calling"
