Love Facebook, but spend most of your time on your BlackBerry? You can now have best of both worlds with a new mobile application designed for fans of the mega-popular social networking site.
Love Facebook, but spend most of your time on your BlackBerry? You can now have best of both worlds with a new mobile application designed for fans of the mega-popular social networking site.
While a cell phone version of Facebook has been around for a while (m.facebook.com), offering a stripped down interface designed for 1-inch screens, Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones makes it even faster, easier and more intuitive to stay in touch with your network of friends.
Specifically, RIM says this software lets BlackBerry users:
* receive Facebook notifications and messages automatically, leveraging the BlackBerry’s push-based email architecture
* quickly access essential Facebook features – such as upload photos, pokes, wall posts, status updates and Facebook email – all with convenient onscreen icons
* Invite friends to join Facebook and accept new friend requests; and view status of friends
* Easily snap and post pictures, for BlackBerrys with cameras
* Read, compose and reply to messages even while offline
Facebook users can download the free BlackBerry application here from their PC or BlackBerry smartphone.

Because I wasn't enough of a BB/FB addict before!
Seriously, this is a nicely done piece of code that once and for all affirms what we've all suspected all along: that Facebook is increasingly being used by the older-than-college and enterprise crowd to build and deepen business relationships.
In many ways, FB is the social networking world's first truly usable contact management tool. This new application tangibly proves its arrival.
