PCs trump peace and happiness this holiday season
We love our computers, no doubt, and you don’t need to be a nerd to get excited about a new one, but according to a recent U.S. survey from the Consumer Electronics Association, more of us want a computer than peace, happiness and clothing this hoiliday season!
We love our computers, no doubt, and you don’t need to be a nerd to get excited about a new one, but according to a recent U.S. survey from the Consumer Electronics Association, more of us want a computer than peace, happiness and clothing this hoiliday season!
When asked what their holiday wishes consisted of in 2006, more respondents answered with "clothing," but it seems more of us need a new PC in 2007 because "computers" eclipsed clothing, as well as happiness, peace, money and a big-screen TV.
The appetite for computers and other electronics will likely drive fourth-quarter sales up 7 percent over last year in the U.S., forecasts the Consumer Electronics Association forecast — from US $44.8 billion in revenue in Q4 2006 to US $48.1 billion for the same period in 07.
For all of 2007, electronics sales in the U.S. are expected to reach US $160 billion, up 8 percent from US $148 billion last year.
Conducted in late September, the random telephone survey queried 1,003 U.S. adults.
What do you want more this holiday season: a spankin’ new laptop or peace on earth?
