i would like to spy on my children...they cannot do what they want all willy nilly. im training my children to become actors. so they have to get used to me filming them 24/7...especially when my kids tell me theyre studying in their room with a classmate with a few clicks i can tell if hes doing algebra or my daughter.

This is certainly a double-edged sword. It has a use, of course who doesn't want to see what's going on at their house when they're not at home? But people are going to find that it has more ill-intented uses rather than it has well-intended uses. If it's used at all! For instance, how many of you have a security system installed in your homes? More often than not mine goes off because a spider crawls across the motion sensor, or someone forgot that the alarm was on, not that there was an intruder. Of course if we actually were having our homes invaded, the security system would alert us, but it is actually so unlikely to happen...

Philonius, 1984 was released in 1949, Orwell was writing it in 1948. He inverted the last two numbers of the year, you could say because it's a backwards little world.

Firstly, let me say I approve of cameras, and any other type of sensor. Suppose while you are out, your teen or young child decides to snort some cocaine (just to try it) or smoke pot? A sensor could detect those drugs.

We have all seen the Nanny cams documentaries catch abusive babysitters or parents; does anybody doubt the camera's value in that sort of situation?

I draw the line at putting a camera in any kids' bedrooms - it would be terrible for some innocent kid to find out that his or her parents had seen 'everything' - that is why I suggest drug(s) sensors which can be mounted at strategic locations.

I have no problem with spycams mounted inside tv's, clocks etc, in the common areas of the home. If a spouse or child does something they ought not to, in those areas, where was their legitimate expectation of privacy? If they required privacy (and did not want to be 'found out') to carry out 'their acts', then what valid complaint would they have if they were caught on tape, versus a parent or spouse having walked in unannounced, and catching them 'in the act'? The guilty look on their faces would prove that they knew all along how dishonest they were being. So you see, the real betrayal of trust lies with the offender, not the victim!

A word to wraith - it was not Mr. Wells, as you indicated, but a British chap called George Orwell (a pseudonym - his real name was Eric Arthur Blair, and he wrote his prophetic book '1984' 50 years earlier during 1934.

A word to max - max, your scholastic ability is completely apalling. Kindly spend more time on your spelling and grammar before you decide to post something for all the world to read.

It amazes me that so many people believe in the "conspiracy theory" issue. this zeitgeistmovie issue as mentioned above for example....
Yes i do believe that we are monitored and over viewed by the powers that be, but when we start to take too many of these ideas for real, then society as we know it breaks down from paranoia...
There are for sure many millions of sick individuals around the globe, and monitoring this can to some degree slow down this social collapse. Police monitor the internet etc...not to catch you changing your clothes or entertaining yourself in your home, but to stop the next child ponography ring or possible stalker, which to me...having four children is a good thing. Street crime in London, England has dropped dramatically since the installation of cameras around the city and who cannot agree that this is for the good of the citizens. Watching your kids in the bathroom or bedroom is not what i would call a great use of technology, but rather a little underhanded and even perverse. If you are truly close to your family members, you can tell if something is wrong. When my eldest started using pot, it was easy to spot...when he started having sex...I didnt need to film him....I could just tell. the same with babysitters. We have had some bad eggs, and have noticed the way the children react to them and have found the truth from the kids. As I stated earlier we did have a web cam which the kids used properly, until I found out that more people who buy them get them for the wrong reason, if you get my gist. That is when I removed it. They use MSN and Facebook now. I use it too. No problems yet. Try that age old idea.....TALK to your children. You'll be amazed what they will confide with you!!!!!

yes i am right "hidden"(protected with rights to the privacy acts) as far as a stalker ex bf or husband who wants to harm the children and female or(family) or vise versa these partners should not have access to these things do you not agree! this is what i meant!
you just took it the wrong way.
as for screening them, half these poeple do not have records madame.even still some with records pass through what do you do?
so its almost impossible...
also as your stats are correct, why then have them able to have more access and oppurtinity to have a chance i was talking of stalkers/sick ones madame.

you know alot of people are molested and im very sorry for what happened to you, but by possibly putting another child at risk to losing innocense,is more than likely with these gadgets/devices,how do you think so much weird unapropriate porn ends up on the net.
yeah have a good night i dont agree still for this situations.

I will have to say that I don't agree with the one comment made by "bad news"
sure privacy is good, however when you say "people have the right to be hidden in domestic violence", thats is wrong.
Too many people and children have been severely hurt or worse, even killed, in domestic violence situations, and mostly because people think "It isn't my business." But it is, if you see or know someone is being hurt or abused and you chooose to do nothing about it, then you are just as bad as the abuser.
Check the stats 75% of all murders are between spouses or families.

As far as I'm concerned, if I want to see what my teenagers are doing when I'm not at home, I have that right. As for my teens privacy...well, when they pay they're own bills, and live on they're own they'll have privacy. Same goes for the babysitter, with all the sick twisted losers out there, darn right i'd have a camera in my home. I was sexually abused as a child, but I got a slap upside the head when I told someone about it. I wish the technology for it was around when I was growing up. I have to agree though that with all the technology out there, this whole spy business stuff, people should have to have security clearance before they are allowed to purchase it, because there is waaaaaay too many sick people out there that use it for the nastiest things to get their rocks off. It's just as much of a curse as it is a blessing.
