Get free books in your inbox
While downloadable e-books and electronic book readers haven’t quite caught on as expected, bite-sized literature pushed to your email might be easier on the eyes – and wallet.
While downloadable e-books and electronic book readers haven’t quite caught on as expected, bite-sized literature pushed to your email inbox might be easier on the eyes – and wallet.
A new website called Dailylit.com is offering a tempting offer for book fans: free installments sent to your inbox every day – each designed to be read in under 5 minutes – which you can read on your PC or while on your BlackBerry, cellphone or PDA during a coffee break.
Bit-sized installments to close to 400 classic titles are available, ranging from Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment to Austen’s Pride & Prejudice to Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities.
Just be aware it might take you a while to get through an entire book. For example, Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina will be delivered in 430 parts. Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days is a more reasonable 82 parts — or just under three months including weekends.
But those too impatient to wait 24 hours for the next installment can choose to receive the next one immediately.
Hey, how about that. Something to look forward to in your inbox instead of spam, phishing scams and annoying chain letters from gullible friends.
